Business
Chorus Limited operates as New Zealand's leading fixed-line wholesale telecommunications infrastructure company primarily engaged in providing extensive fibre and copper network services. The company offers a wide range of core products and services including wholesale fibre broadband access, ultra-fast broadband (UFB) network services, copper network infrastructure services, co-location and value-added network services, and enterprise-grade connectivity solutions such as Express Connect for data centers. Chorus manages the ongoing transition from legacy copper networks to a modern all-fibre digital infrastructure, serving broadband retail providers across New Zealand under an open access model. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Wellington, New Zealand, Chorus generates revenue mainly from wholesale broadband and fixed-line network operations. In recent years, Chorus has focused on expanding and upgrading its national fibre network infrastructure with substantial capital investments aimed at achieving majority fibre uptake by 2030. Notably, in fiscal 2025, Chorus launched new symmetrical Hyperfibre 1Gbps plans for small businesses and introduced the Express Connect service to accelerate enterprise connectivity, targeting mission-critical applications. The company has refined its operating model by simplifying service offerings, disestablishing legacy roles, and enhancing operational capabilities. Chorus rebranded its service provider website and implemented a Chorus-managed account login system in late 2025 to improve user experience. Financially, Chorus reported steady results with increased EBITDA and improved net earnings alongside managing capital expenditure reductions related to fibre installations. Its strategic priorities include digital equity initiatives, accelerating fibre adoption, and exploring new revenue opportunities in emerging fibre markets such as data centers. Chorus operates predominantly within New Zealand and holds no recent major mergers or acquisitions, focusing instead on organic growth and regulatory compliance in the fibre broadband sector.
