Business
Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is North America's largest flat-rolled steel producer and a leading supplier of iron ore pellets and automotive-grade steel, with vertically integrated operations encompassing iron ore mining, pelletizing, direct reduced iron production, ferrous scrap processing, primary steelmaking, and downstream finishing including stamping, tooling, and tubing. The company manufactures and supplies an extensive range of products such as flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, electrical steel including grain-oriented and non-oriented varieties, plate steel, long steel products, tinplate, tin mill products, hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, coated steels like hot-dipped galvanized, galvannealed, galvalume, and electrogalvanized; carbon and stainless steel tubing; hot and cold stamping solutions; tooling; ingots; rolled blooms; cast blooms; and hot briquetted iron, primarily serving the automotive, infrastructure, manufacturing, appliance, construction, and energy industries. Founded in 1847 and headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland-Cliffs operates mines in Michigan and Minnesota, steelmaking facilities across the United States and into Canada, with regional offices supporting North American markets and a focus on sustainability through waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon emission cuts of over 25 percent. In recent developments, the company completed its transformative acquisition of Stelco Holdings Inc. in late 2024 for approximately $2.5 billion, doubling its flat-rolled steel spot market exposure, adding capabilities in construction and industrial sectors, and integrating around 1,800 union employees while targeting $120 million in annual synergies. Additionally, in September 2025, Cleveland-Cliffs entered a strategic memorandum of understanding with POSCO, Korea's largest steelmaker, designating it as the partner for a joint venture to produce American-made steel, supporting POSCO's U.S. customer base amid new U.S.-Korea trade agreements and enhancing Cliffs' market position. The company also issued high-yield senior guaranteed notes in September 2025 and announced a proposed common shares offering in October 2025 to bolster its financial flexibility.
