Business
Canada Nickel Company Inc. is a Canada-based mineral exploration and development company focused on advancing nickel sulphide projects to supply nickel for electric vehicle batteries, green energy applications and the stainless steel market. Incorporated in 2019 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, the company operates primarily in the Timmins Nickel District of northern Ontario, where it holds 100% ownership of the flagship Crawford Nickel-Cobalt Sulphide Project, one of the world's largest undeveloped nickel reserves; it also controls over 20 additional nickel exploration targets across the district, alongside its wholly owned subsidiary NetZero Metals Inc., which develops proprietary processes for zero-carbon production of nickel, cobalt, iron and related products including NetZero Nickel, NetZero Cobalt and NetZero Iron through technologies such as the patented IPT Carbonation process for carbon capture and storage. The company's projects target low-carbon nickel sulphide deposits suitable for open-pit mining, with Crawford benefiting from existing road, rail and power infrastructure as well as partnerships with local First Nations groups like the Taykwa Tagamou Nation. Recent developments include a November 2025 bought deal private placement raising gross proceeds of C$12.0 million to support permitting and financing for Crawford construction targeted by end-2026; referral of the Crawford Project to Canada's Major Projects Office in November 2025 to expedite federal review and unlock additional government funding such as US$600 million in investment tax credits and a US$500 million letter of interest from Export Development Canada; advancement of a strategic partnership with NetCarb in October 2025 to explore a zero-carbon industrial cluster in northeastern Ontario encompassing new product opportunities like downstream processing; addition of cornerstone investors including Samsung SDI at 8.7%, Anglo American at 7.6% and Agnico Eagle at 11% to strengthen its shareholder base; and investments exceeding C$35 million in 2024 to expand the Timmins Nickel District, positioning it as a potential global nickel sulphide hub with scalability for multiple large-scale operations.
