Coherent Corp. (NYSE: COHR) develops, manufactures, and markets engineered materials, optoelectronic components, lasers, and related systems for the industrial, communications, electronics, instrumentation, and datacenter markets. The company operates through segments including Networking, Materials, and Lasers, offering advanced optical transceivers, active optical cables, coherent transceivers and modules, lasers, amplifiers, photonic devices, silicon photonics solutions, VCSEL arrays, precision optics, laser sources and systems for cutting, welding, marking, ablation, semiconductor and display capital equipment, automotive and energy solutions, as well as products for multiphoton microscopy, facial biometrics, augmented reality, and medical instrumentation; it maintains a vertically integrated supply chain across these categories. Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, with additional key facilities in Santa Clara, California, and research, development, manufacturing, sales, service, and distribution operations in more than 130 locations worldwide spanning North America, Europe, China, Japan, and other regions, Coherent serves hyperscale datacenters, telecom networks, precision manufacturing, EV production, and OEMs in research, healthcare, and dentistry. Recent developments include the August 2025 agreement to sell its Aerospace and Defense business, encompassing optical and laser systems with 550 employees across 10 sites, to Advent for $400 million to reduce debt and focus on core growth markets; the September 2025 launch of a quad-channel integrated circuit family for 800G and 1.6T optical transceivers in cloud, AI, and telecom networks; capacity doubling for indium phosphide lasers via 6-inch wafer production to meet AI datacenter demand; and November 2025 introductions of the Axon FP femtosecond laser for multiphoton microscopy and the EDGE CUT20 OEM cutting solution paired with EDGE FL20 fiber laser for intelligent metal cutting.
