Business
Colabor Group Inc. (TSX: GCL) distributes and wholesales food and related products primarily to the hotel, restaurant and institutional (HRI) markets, as well as independent distributors, grocery stores and convenience stores across Quebec and northern New Brunswick; the company offers over 10,000 products from more than 600 suppliers, including frozen foods, dry goods, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, poultry, disposable items, sanitation products and maintenance products, with specialty lines such as Norref fisheries (over 1,500 fresh, frozen or live regional, exotic and eco-friendly fish and seafood products), Viandes Lauzon meats, Maturin proteins and side dishes, and private labels like Menu and Lauzon Meats. Founded in 1962 as a cooperative and converted to a joint-stock company in 2009, Colabor Group Inc. is headquartered at 1601 Rene-Descartes Street, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec, Canada, and operates through two segments: Distribution, which serves HRI and retail customers with broadline and specialty products including proteins and side dishes; and Wholesale, which sells general food-related and non-food items to other distributors from its Boucherville facility. Recent developments include the completion in June 2025 of the acquisition of certain food distribution assets from Alimplus Inc., which accelerates growth, adds customer bases in key Quebec territories, enables synergies and cross-selling opportunities especially for private brands and Tout-Prêt products, and is financed by an amended and increased $95 million senior secured credit facility; earlier acquisitions encompass Pêcheries Norref in 2011, Viandes Lauzon in 2013 and part of Maturin in 2023; in July 2025, the company reported a cybersecurity incident and appointed Yanick Blanchard as interim Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer following the departure of the previous CFO in June 2025.
