Mr. Cooper Group Inc. (NASDAQ: COOP) is a leading servicer of residential mortgage loans in the United States. The company originates and purchases residential mortgage loans; services a portfolio of residential mortgage loans, which includes collecting and remitting borrower payments, managing foreclosures and delinquencies, conducting inspections of the mortgaged properties, and providing borrower information and customer service; and performs activities on behalf of mortgage investors, primarily Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Its servicing portfolio comprises conventional mortgages, government-insured mortgages such as those insured by the Federal Housing Administration, and mortgages serviced under reverse mortgage programs. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Lewisville, Texas, Mr. Cooper Group operates primarily in the U.S. residential mortgage market, serving homeowners, investors, and real estate investors through its direct-to-consumer platform, Xome, which offers end-to-end solutions for buying, selling, financing, and investing in real estate. In recent developments, the company expanded its servicing portfolio through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, including the purchase of additional mortgage servicing rights (MSRs) from major investors in 2024 and 2025. Mr. Cooper launched enhancements to its digital servicing platform, improving borrower experience with AI-driven tools for payment management and refinancing options. Additionally, it formed partnerships with technology providers to integrate blockchain for secure title transfers and announced a $500 million funding facility in late 2024 to support further portfolio expansion amid rising homeownership demand.
