- Coppernico Metals Inc. is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based mineral exploration company focused on the acquisition, evaluation and exploration of mineral property interests for the discovery of large-scale, high-grade copper-gold deposits in the Americas. Founded in 2020, the Company’s principal asset is the Sombrero copper-gold project, a district-scale land package of approximately 57,000 hectares located in the Ayacucho region of southern Peru, on the northwestern margin of the Andahuaylas-Yauri mineral belt. Through its wholly owned Peruvian subsidiary, Sombrero Minerales S.A.C., Coppernico conducts geological mapping, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, target generation, community engagement, environmental permitting and diamond-drilling activities directed at copper-gold skarn-porphyry mineral systems. Its principal exploration targets include Fierrazo, Ccascabamba, Tipicancha, Huachana, Chumpi, Hojota, Corrales and Nioc, with initial drilling focused on expanding known mineralization at Fierrazo and evaluating additional prospective zones across the Sombrero property. In August 2026, Coppernico received approval for an expanded Environmental Impact Assessment – Semi-detailed drilling permit, increasing the authorized drilling area to approximately 3,122 hectares, drill platforms to 181 and drill holes to 300. The Company also completed a C$995,349.60 non-brokered private placement in August 2026 to support permitting, community agreements, exploration initiatives and working capital, with Teck Resources Limited participating to maintain a 9.9% ownership interest. In September 2026, Sombrero Minerales entered into a drilling agreement with Peru-based AK Drilling International S.A. for a minimum 5,000-metre Phase 2 diamond-drill program at Sombrero, subject to final start-of-activities authorization from Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines; the program is financed initially through C$6.5 million raised in two recent financings and is intended to advance multiple copper-gold targets, with initial drilling at Nioc targeted for the first half of 2027 pending community agreements and permitting.
