Business
Coty Inc. manufactures, markets, distributes, and sells branded beauty products worldwide, operating through two primary segments: Prestige and Consumer Beauty. Its product portfolio includes fragrances, color cosmetics, skin and body care products, and hair color and styling products. Key brands under the Prestige segment include Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chloe, Davidoff, Escada, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Jil Sander, Joop!, Kylie Jenner, Lancaster, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Orveda, philosophy, SKKN BY KIM (recently divested), and Tiffany & Co. The Consumer Beauty segment features products distributed through mass-market channels such as hypermarkets, supermarkets, drug stores, pharmacies, mid-tier department stores, and e-commerce platforms under brands like Adidas, Beckham, Bozzano, Bourjois, Bruno Banani, CoverGirl, Jovan, Max Factor, Mexx, Monange, Nautica, Paixao, LeGer by Lena Gercke, Rimmel, Risque, Vera Wang, and Sally Hansen. Coty also provides products to professional beauty salons through its Professional Beauty division. The company was founded in 1904 and is headquartered in New York, USA. Recently, Coty has undertaken significant strategic initiatives to enhance its business performance and operational efficiency. It appointed Gordon von Bretten as President of Consumer Beauty in 2025 and initiated a comprehensive strategic review of its $1.2 billion mass color cosmetics business and $400 million Brazilian operations to explore various strategic options including partnerships, divestitures, or spin-offs. Coty also plans to more closely integrate its Prestige Beauty and Mass Fragrance businesses to refocus on its heritage and core strengths. In 2025, the company launched new fragrance lines under luxury brands Swarovski, Etro, and Marni, with upcoming launches of Prestige cosmetics such as Marc Jacobs Beauty slated for 2026. Coty has divested its 20% stake in SKKN BY KIM to SKIMS as part of portfolio restructuring. These efforts are part of its broader "All-In to Win" transformation program aimed at boosting agility, scale, and efficiency while targeting a return to profitable sales growth. Coty maintains a strong presence in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific markets. Coty's history includes strategic partnerships, such as the majority stake acquisition by KKR in its Professional Beauty and Retail Hair businesses in 2020, which has supported deleveraging and long-term growth investment. The company continues to focus on innovation, brand elevation, and expanding its market-leading e-commerce and retail distribution footprint globally. Coty remains one of the leading global beauty companies with a diversified brand portfolio across multiple beauty market segments and geographies, capitalizing on its extensive brand heritage and broad consumer reach.
