In recent developments, COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation completed acquisitions on October 31, 2024, integrating chemical logistics from affiliates COSCO SHIPPING Investment Dalian Co., Ltd. and COSCO Shipping (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., including 100% stakes in Shanghai COSCO SHIPPING Chemical Carrier Co., Ltd. (formerly China Shipping Chemical Carrier), COSCO SHIPPING Energy Chemical Carrier (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., plus 70% in Shenzhen COSCO Longpeng LPG Transportation Co., Ltd. and 87% in Hainan Zhaogang Shipping Co., Ltd., for approximately RMB1.05 billion to bolster LPG and chemical segments; it ordered six methanol dual-fuel tankers in December 2023 from COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, comprising three 114,200 DWT Aframax crude oil carriers and smaller Panamax/MR vessels for delivery by late 2027; and signed a November contract with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry and China Shipbuilding Trading for six 307,000 DWT vessels, reflecting strategic fleet modernization and expansion into clean energy amid volatile market conditions.
