Business
Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc is a diversified commercial conglomerate engaged in import and distribution logistics, automotive and engineering equipment distribution, fashion and department store retail, commercial property development, and airport infrastructure operations. Founded in 1927 and headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus, the company operates primarily across the Republic of Cyprus as a core operating subsidiary of N.K. Shacolas (Holdings) Limited. The group organizes its commercial activities across five principal business divisions: Distribution and Logistics, Automotive and Heavy Machinery, Retail Trade, Property Management and Development, and Transport Infrastructure. Through its distribution subsidiaries, including Argosy Trading Company Ltd and CTC Cassandra, the company manages the importation, logistics warehousing, marketing, and wholesale distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), ambient and temperature-controlled food products, beverages, confectionery, and tobacco products; luxury cosmetics, designer fragrances, and personal skincare lines; and household appliances and lighting products for retail chains, pharmacies, and independent merchants. Through CTC Automotive Ltd, the company acts as the official distributor and service partner for passenger motor vehicles and commercial fleet transport, handling brands such as Hyundai and Volvo cars, IVECO commercial vehicles, and Scania heavy transport; industrial and marine machinery, including Caterpillar earthmoving equipment, diesel generator sets, and marine engines; professional power tools and fastening systems under the Hilti brand; passenger and commercial tires representing Michelin, BFGoodrich, and Riken; and automotive replacement components, lubricant products, vehicle leasing, and comprehensive after-sales maintenance services. Through its retail arm, including Ermes Department Stores Plc, the company operates department stores, branded fashion retail boutiques, cosmetic counters, and lifestyle venues. Through Woolworth (Cyprus) Properties Plc, the group owns, manages, and develops prime commercial real estate, shopping malls, retail parks, and mixed-use urban properties. In the infrastructure sector, CTC participates in airport concessions through operating consortia managing commercial terminal infrastructure at Larnaka International Airport and Pafos International Airport. In recent corporate developments, Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc executed a mandatory public takeover bid to acquire full ownership of its key retail subsidiary, Ermes Department Stores Plc, concluding the share acquisition process in mid-2026. The group also optimized its retail asset portfolio by divesting its equity stake in the home improvement retail chain Superhome Center DIY Ltd. In real estate operations, its property subsidiary Woolworth (Cyprus) Properties restructured the project development terms for its landmark Aura tower development. Furthermore, following the publication and filing of its comprehensive annual and interim financial statements, the Cyprus Stock Exchange lifted the trading suspension on Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc shares in early 2026, reassigning the securities from the surveillance tier back to the regulated alternative market.
