The company organizes its business operations into three main segments: Food Products, Soap Products, and Fuel and Lubricants. Its Food Products portfolio comprises milled flours and prepared mixes, including rice flour, kurakkan flour, ulundu flour, string hopper flour, hopper mixes, and pittu and thosai mixtures; whole and ground spices, including roasted and unroasted curry powder, chilli powder, chilli pieces, turmeric powder, cinnamon powder, black pepper, and crushed pepper; instant foods and noodles, including rice noodles and instant culinary meals; packaged condiments and culinary staples, including coconut vinegar, soya sauce, pickles, chutneys, and sambols; and specialty packaged foods, such as roasted ground coffee, gingelly rolls, and plain and masala papadam. The Soap Products segment manufactures and markets toilet soaps, herbal soaps, and laundry detergent bars under proprietary brand names including Blue Soap, Jasmine, Aththora, Namal, Senola, and Sal Bar Soap. Through its Fuel and Lubricants segment, the company operates a retail petroleum filling station supplying petrol, auto diesel, kerosene, and automotive lubricants. Founded in 1943 by C. A. Harischandra, incorporated in 1953, and publicly listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1983, the company is headquartered in Matara, Sri Lanka. The company distributes its products nationwide across Sri Lanka and exports packaged food lines to international markets including Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In recent developments, Ambeon Capital PLC, through its subsidiary Ambeon Essentials (Private) Limited, acquired a 51.11 percent majority controlling interest in Harischandra Mills PLC via a share purchase transaction and subsequent mandatory takeover offer, establishing a dedicated FMCG vertical under the Ambeon Group, reconstituting the board of directors, and driving strategic synergies in manufacturing scale, product innovation, and expanded distribution networks.
