- Managem SA is a Morocco-based pan-African mining and hydrometallurgical group engaged in the exploration, extraction, processing, refining, and marketing of base metals, precious metals, specialty energy transition metals, and industrial minerals. Founded in 1928 and headquartered in Casablanca, Morocco, the company operates as a flagship industrial subsidiary of the pan-African private investment fund Al Mada and is publicly listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange. The group provides a diversified portfolio of mineral and metallurgical products, including precious metals such as refined gold bullion and silver ingots; base metals and concentrates comprising copper concentrates, copper cathodes, lead concentrates, and zinc concentrates; specialty battery-grade energy transition metals consisting of high-purity cobalt cathodes, cobalt sulfate heptahydrate, and nickel derivatives produced through hydrometallurgical refining at its Guemassa complex; industrial minerals comprising acid-grade and metallurgical-grade fluorite; and specialized chemical derivatives including copper sulfate and nickel hydroxide, complemented by technical services in geological prospecting, ore characterization, and hydrometallurgical engineering. Managem operates an extensive footprint of mining facilities and development projects across Africa, with active operations and assets situated in Morocco, Senegal, Guinea, Mali, Gabon, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In recent major strategic developments, Managem has significantly expanded its regional presence and diversified into domestic transitional energy resources. The group executed the strategic acquisition of IAMGOLD Corporation's Bambouk gold portfolio in West Africa, integrating the Boto gold project in Senegal, the Karita gold deposit in Guinea, and the Diakha-Siribaya project in Mali into its precious metals division. In parallel, Managem diversified into upstream natural gas by entering into binding agreements to acquire operating interests in Sound Energy's Tendrara gas exploitation concession and exploration permits in eastern Morocco, subsequently moving to acquire Sound Energy Meridja Limited to increase its participating interest in the Tendrara concession to 75%. Furthermore, the company secured a multi-year commercial agreement with Renault Group to supply low-carbon cobalt sulfate for electric vehicle battery chemistries, concluded a strategic partnership and equity restructuring with Norin Mining for the Gabgaba gold project in Sudan, and raised the ceiling of its commercial paper financing program from MAD 1 billion to MAD 2 billion to support ongoing continental mining and energy infrastructure developments.
