Business
Carlisle Companies Incorporated (NYSE: CSL) manufactures and supplies innovative building envelope products and solutions for energy-efficient commercial and residential buildings. The company operates through two primary segments: Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), which provides single-ply roofing systems including ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) membranes; polyiso insulation; engineered metal roofing and wall panels; moisture protection products; protective roofing underlayments; and integrated air and vapor barriers; and Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT), which offers spray polyurethane foam and coating systems, as well as expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation products. Carlisle serves architects, roofing consultants, contractors, and the commercial construction sector, with a focus on new construction, re-roofing, energy efficiency, durability, and comprehensive system warranties; its products generate the majority of revenue from the United States, with additional operations in Europe, North America, and internationally. Founded in 1917 as Carlisle Tire and Rubber Company in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the company maintains its corporate headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, and employs nearly 13,000 people worldwide through a network of manufacturing plants supported by the Carlisle Operating System for lean operations and continuous improvement. In recent strategic developments aligned with its Vision 2030 plan to become a pure-play building products company, Carlisle completed the $410 million acquisition of MTL Holdings in May 2024 to enhance its portfolio, followed by the $259.5 million purchase of Plasti-Fab—a leading Canadian EPS insulation provider—in late 2024, adding vertically integrated polystyrene capabilities, scale in retail channels, and geographic expansion across the U.S. Midwest and Canada with $14 million in anticipated cost synergies. These moves follow prior divestitures of non-core units like Carlisle Interconnect Technologies to concentrate on higher-margin building products, supporting organic growth, innovation investment, and shareholder returns through share repurchases and dividend increases amid a re-roofing cycle.
