Business
Dillard's, Inc. (NYSE: DDS) operates as a fashion apparel and home furnishings retailer through a network of department stores and an e-commerce platform primarily serving middle- to upper-middle-class consumers across the United States. The company offers an extensive range of merchandise including women's, juniors', men's, and children's apparel and accessories; shoes; lingerie; cosmetics and fragrances from national and exclusive brands such as Antonio Melani, Gianni Bini, Daniel Cremieux, and Roundtree & Yorke; handbags; home furnishings encompassing furniture, bedding, kitchenware, and decor; as well as private-label products complemented by beauty services, expert bra fittings, custom tailoring, and loyalty programs via the Dillard's American Express card. It conducts operations through two segments: Retail Operations, which drives the majority of revenue via sales in approximately 272 stores across 30 states with concentrations in Texas (57 stores) and Florida (42 stores), and Construction, managed by subsidiary CDI Contractors, LLC, focusing on building, remodeling, and maintaining company stores. Founded in 1938 by William T. Dillard and headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dillard's maintains family control through Class B common stock while Class A shares trade publicly. In recent developments, Dillard's partnered with Trademark Property Co. to acquire Longview Mall in Longview, Texas, for $34 million in 2025, marking a strategic shift toward mall ownership where the company serves as an anchor tenant with Trademark handling operations and leasing. The company launched "The Coterie Shop" in 2024, introducing online and in-store special occasion and casual clothing from curated brands including Abbey Glass, Buru, Crosby by Mollie Burch, and Fanm Mon, available in select states such as Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Additionally, in March 2025, Dillard's amended and extended its $800 million senior secured revolving credit facility to a maturity date of March 12, 2030, retaining a $200 million expansion option to support working capital, capital expenditures, debt repayment, and share repurchases without financial covenants under certain conditions, thereby enhancing liquidity and financial flexibility.
