Business
Dr. Martens plc designs, develops, procures, markets, sells and distributes footwear, apparel and accessories under the iconic Dr. Martens brand; its core products encompass boots including the signature 1460 and 1461 models, shoes such as the Adrian tassel loafer, sandals, bags featuring silhouettes like the Kiev backpack and heart-shaped designs, and other accessories encompassing socks, laces and shoe care items. Founded in 1960 with the launch of the original 1460 boot in Wollaston, England, the company, headquartered in London at 28 Jamestown Road, Camden, operates across three primary regions—EMEA, Americas and APAC—with regional hubs in Portland for the Americas and Hong Kong for APAC, and additional facilities in locations including Northamptonshire, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh City; it serves consumers in more than 60 countries through direct-to-consumer channels like 239 owned stores and e-commerce platforms alongside wholesale and distributor partnerships. The company targets diverse demographics seeking durable, self-expressive footwear blending workwear heritage and contemporary fashion, with recent strategic shifts including the adoption of a consumer-first Levers for Growth strategy emphasizing new product families like Zebzag laceless boots, Buzz, and waterproof 1460 Rain boots that drove 33% shoe volume growth in H1 FY26; expansions via distribution partnerships with Beside Group for UAE market entry, Crosby for Latin America including new stores in Chile and Argentina, and agreements in Italy and the Philippines; operational enhancements through a new Global Technology Centre in India, supply and demand planning systems, and simplified partnerships with key wholesalers in the USA and South Korea.
