Business
Emerald Oil Industries Limited is an agro-processing and edible oil manufacturing company based in Bangladesh, primarily engaged in the extraction, refining, and commercial marketing of edible rice bran oil and related agricultural by-products. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the company operates integrated extraction and refining production facilities located in Sherpur, Bangladesh. The company's core product portfolio is marketed under its flagship consumer brand, Spondon, and comprises refined rice bran oil fortified with essential micronutrients; crude rice bran oil supplied for industrial processing; de-oiled rice bran (DORB) utilized as a high-protein ingredient in cattle, poultry, and aqua feed formulation; industrial-grade fatty acids for soap and chemical manufacturing; and rice bran wax used in industrial and cosmetic applications. Emerald Oil Industries caters to domestic retail consumers, commercial food producers, and feed mills across Bangladesh, while also supplying export markets across Asia. In recent major corporate developments, the company completed a comprehensive operational and management restructuring overseen by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, which culminated in Minori Bangladesh Limited, a subsidiary of Japanese investment entity Minori Co., Ltd., acquiring a controlling equity stake and assuming executive management. Under new ownership, the company secured substantial fresh equity financing, restructured outstanding banking liabilities, and upgraded its processing machinery to resume commercial production. In addition, the company expanded its daily processing capacity, transitioned its energy supply to husk-based biomass boiler systems, and resumed international export shipments of crude rice bran oil and de-oiled rice bran to Japanese and regional markets.
