Business
Mithun Knitting & Dyeing (CEPZ) Ltd. is a Bangladesh-based textile and apparel manufacturing company primarily engaged in circular knitting, fabric dyeing, finishing, and the production of ready-made knit garments for international export markets. The company's product and service offerings historically encompass knit fabric manufacturing, including single jersey, double jersey, interlock, 1X1 and 2X2 rib fabrics, French terry, fleece, waffle knits, yarn-dyed fabrics, and polyester-cotton blends; fabric processing services, including bleaching, dyeing, and specialized finishing; and finished apparel manufacturing, comprising basic and printed T-shirts, polo shirts, tank tops, activewear, and children's knitwear. A concern of the Bangas-Tallu Group and formerly known as Toyo Knitex (CEPZ) Limited until March 2018, the company was incorporated in 1991, commenced commercial operations in 1993, and is headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with historical factory operations based at the Chattogram Export Processing Zone. In recent corporate developments, the company has experienced major restructuring challenges following the suspension of its factory operations and the termination of its land lease by the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority, which subsequently auctioned plant assets to settle outstanding liabilities. Recent strategic initiatives to revitalize the company through a proposed takeover and share transfer to Chinese investor Destination Express International Limited were cancelled and rejected by the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission due to non-compliance with regulatory conditions and unresolved debt obligations. Furthermore, the company remains under active regulatory review by an inquiry committee formed by the securities regulator to examine financial governance and net asset value disclosures while trading in the Z category on the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges.
