- Olympic Industries PLC is a Bangladesh-based fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manufacturer primarily engaged in the production, marketing, and distribution of branded biscuits, confectionery, bakery items, savory snacks, and consumer goods. The company operates through three principal business segments: Food Products, Beverage Products, and Battery Products. Its core product portfolio comprises biscuits and cookies, including glucose, Marie, salted crackers, butter cookies, cream biscuits, coconut biscuits, dry cakes, and health-oriented digestive biscuits marketed under flagship brand names such as Energy Plus, Tip, Nutty, Lexus, Milk Plus, and Olympic Digestive; bakery and confectionery items, including toast, rusk, fruit cakes, chocolate-enrobed snacks, wafers, hard candies, toffees, and lollipops; savory snacks and packaged foods, including instant noodles, fried peas, potato chips, extruded snacks, and traditional chanachur; powdered beverage products, including fruit-flavored instant drink powders and oral electrolyte salines sold under the SIPO brand; and dry cell battery products, including heavy-duty carbon-zinc batteries. The company sells its products primarily through a comprehensive nationwide distribution network spanning wholesalers, retail grocers, modern trade supermarkets, and institutional clients across Bangladesh.
Founded in 1979 as Bengal Carbide Limited and headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the company initially commenced operations as a dry cell battery manufacturer before strategically pivoting to industrial food processing in 1996. Olympic Industries PLC operates extensive manufacturing complexes located across Narayanganj District, including production facilities in Kanchpur, Lolati, and Madanpur. In addition to serving its domestic consumer market, the company maintains active international trade operations, exporting its food and confectionery products to more than 35 countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
In recent developments, the company officially transitioned its corporate name to Olympic Industries PLC in July 2025 to comply with statutory company regulations in Bangladesh. To meet rising consumer demand and strengthen operational efficiency, the company has undertaken major capital expenditure programs across its Narayanganj industrial complexes. These include securing a Tk 500 million credit facility funded through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited (BIFFL) for Balancing, Modernisation, Rehabilitation, and Expansion (BMRE) across its Lolati and Madanpur factories; acquiring additional contiguous land parcels in Narayanganj for future facility build-outs; establishing a high-capacity chanachur production facility at its Kutubpur site; backward-integrating into automated carton manufacturing to streamline in-house packaging; and commissioning new production lines for powdered beverages and electrolyte saline formulations.
