Business
Sigma Healthcare Limited (ASX:SIG), founded in 1912 and headquartered in Clayton, Australia, is Australia's largest full-line pharmaceutical wholesaler and retail pharmacy franchisor, supplying prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, front-of-store goods, medical consumables and fast-moving consumer goods to more than 3,500 pharmacies nationwide through its extensive distribution network; it operates prominent retail brands including Chemist Warehouse, Amcal, Discount Drug Stores and PriceSave, alongside the Ultra Beauty retail beauty offering, while providing third-party logistics (3PL) solutions, electronic medication management systems such as MPS MediSphere and PharmacyiQ online training, and end-to-end medication management connecting general practitioners to community and aged care facilities. The company serves franchised and independent pharmacies, hospitals and consumers across Australia, with international operations in New Zealand, Ireland, China and Dubai. In February 2025, Sigma completed its transformational merger with Chemist Warehouse Group, under which Chemist Warehouse shareholders hold approximately 85.75% of the enlarged entity, enabling accelerated growth through complementary strengths in distribution, franchising and omnichannel retailing; the merged group reported strong first-half financial results in August 2025, including 35% EBIT growth, margin expansion and new store openings including in Dubai, while launching initiatives such as a new PharmacyiQ learning portal, a Tasmanian distribution centre and expanded private label ranges.
