- Engility Holdings, Inc. was a prominent American government services contractor that provided advanced engineering and logistics support to various United States Armed Forces and civilian agencies. Originating as a spin-off from L3 Technologies in July 2012, the company established itself as an independent, publicly traded entity focusing on professional and technical services for the government sector. Its offerings encompassed specialized technical consulting, systems engineering and integration, information technology modernization, program management, supply chain services, and comprehensive training and education solutions. Engility's revenue model was almost entirely derived from its engagements with the U.S. government, serving critical needs across the defense, intelligence, space, and federal civilian markets. A significant strategic move included its 2015 acquisition of TASC, Inc., which expanded its presence within the intelligence community and space sectors. Ultimately, Engility Holdings, Inc. ceased independent operations following its acquisition by Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $2.5 billion, which was finalized in January 2019. As a result of this merger, Engility became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAIC, with its stock no longer trading on the New York Stock Exchange and the Engility brand subsequently retired.
