Business
EOG Resources, Inc. explores for, develops, produces, and markets crude oil, natural gas liquids including ethane, propane, butanes and natural gasoline, and natural gas primarily from major shale plays in the United States such as the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale, Denver-Julesburg Basin, Powder River Basin and Utica Shale; operations extend to Trinidad and Tobago, Bahrain and select international locations including an Abu Dhabi exploration concession. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company originated as Enron Oil & Gas Company in 1985 and became independent in 1999. EOG Resources targets refineries, trading companies, petrochemical firms and heating markets with high-quality light sweet crude and liquids-rich production averaging around 534,500 barrels per day of crude and condensates, 309,300 barrels per day of natural gas liquids, and 2.75 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas in the third quarter of 2025. In a major recent development, EOG Resources completed its $5.7 billion acquisition of Encino Acquisition Partners from CPP Investments and Encino Energy in November 2025, adding 675,000 net acres in the Utica Shale for a total of 1.1 million net acres and boosting pro forma production to 275,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in that play with over two billion barrels of oil equivalent in undeveloped resources. The company allocated an additional $2 billion to Permian Basin operations for 2025, entered midstream partnerships to cut transportation costs by 8 percent, announced a $1.5 billion share repurchase program in September 2025, reduced exploration and production capital expenditures by 10 percent, raised its quarterly dividend by five percent to $1.02 per share, and completed a $1 billion public debt offering of senior notes due 2031 and 2055 to refinance existing obligations.
