Fifth Third Bancorp (Nasdaq: FITB) is a diversified bank holding company and the parent of Fifth Third Bank, National Association, which provides a broad range of retail and commercial banking, consumer lending, and wealth management services to individuals, small businesses, middle-market companies, and institutional clients; core offerings include consumer and small business deposit products such as checking, savings, and certificates of deposit accounts; personal and business credit cards including the Fifth Third Business Rewards Card and Commercial Card with features like travel assistance, purchase protection, and mobile banking; consumer lending products encompassing home equity loans, lines of credit, mortgages, and auto loans; commercial banking solutions featuring cash management, merchant services, treasury management, and loan products for middle-market and corporate clients; wealth and asset management services; and commercial payments with expanded cash logistics capabilities. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, with origins tracing back to 1858 through predecessor institutions that merged in 1908 to form the Fifth Third National Bank, the company operates approximately 1,100 full-service banking centers primarily across the Midwest and Southeast United States, including high-growth markets in Florida, the Carolinas, Texas, and California, serving customers through a nationwide no-fee ATM network, digital banking platforms, and FDIC-insured accounts. Fifth Third operates in four primary business segments: Commercial Banking, Branch Banking, Consumer Lending, and Wealth & Asset Management, with approximately $574 billion in assets under management and a focus on technology-driven innovation, community impact, and ethical practices as one of few U.S. banks named to Ethisphere's World's Most Ethical Companies list. In recent developments, Fifth Third announced in October 2025 a definitive $10.9 billion all-stock acquisition of Comerica Incorporated to accelerate growth, enhance middle-market banking capabilities, and expand into 17 of the 20 fastest-growing U.S. markets including Texas and California; in August 2025, it acquired DTS Connex to bolster commercial payments with added cash logistics, infrastructure, and risk management; and its Southeast expansion, launched in 2018, reached milestones in December 2025 with the 200th financial center in Florida and 100th in the Carolinas, alongside plans to open over 50 additional branches by year-end and double annual investments through 2028 to achieve a balanced 50/50 Midwest-Southeast footprint while entering new markets like Alabama.
