Business
Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA, the world's leading provider of dialysis products and services, offers a comprehensive portfolio along the entire dialysis value chain, including dialysis machines such as the 2008T BlueStar and Liberty Select systems, dialyzers like Optiflux, reverse osmosis water purification systems, renal pharmaceuticals, therapeutic apheresis solutions, and related disposables and supplies; it operates approximately 3,700 dialysis clinics serving over 299,000 patients worldwide as of December 2024, with around 40 production sites across all continents and a dominant 38% market share in the US dialysis sector. Founded in 1996 through the merger of Fresenius AG's dialysis division and National Medical Care, the company maintains global headquarters in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, Germany, North American headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts, and regional hubs in Hong Kong for Asia-Pacific and Rio de Janeiro for Latin America; it focuses on chronic and acute kidney disease treatments for end-stage renal disease patients, primarily through outpatient centers, value-based care models, and care enablement services targeting nephrologists and healthcare providers in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. In recent developments, Fresenius Medical Care advances its FME Reignite strategy by investing EUR 312 million in September 2025 to increase ownership in Interwell Health, a renal value-based care leader, accelerating vertical integration following the 2022 merger of Cricket Health, Interwell Health, and Fresenius Health Partners; it divests select kidney disease laboratory testing assets of Spectra Laboratories to Quest Diagnostics in early 2025 to enhance operational efficiencies; and launches the FME Reignite strategy in June 2025 to strengthen core operations, drive innovation, and improve cash flow with planned annual capex of EUR 800 million to EUR 1 billion through 2030.
