Business
Fortrea Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: FTRE) is a leading global contract research organization (CRO) that provides comprehensive clinical development solutions to biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies worldwide. The company offers Phase I-IV clinical trial management; clinical pharmacology services, including first-in-human and exploratory studies; drug development consulting; regulatory guidance; pharmacovigilance; medical writing; data management and biostatistics; patient recruitment; site management; and specialized expertise in oncology, rare diseases, central nervous system disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, and cell and gene therapies. Fortrea delivers these services through flexible models comprising full-service outsourcing (FSO), functional service provider (FSP), and hybrid structures, supported by clinical research units in the U.S. and U.K., cGMP pharmacies, and operations across 90 countries. Incorporated in 2023 following its spin-off from Labcorp in July 2023, Fortrea traces its origins to 1968 through predecessors including Covance and Corning Lab Services, and is headquartered at 8 Moore Drive in Durham, North Carolina. In June 2024, Fortrea completed the divestiture of its Endpoint Clinical (interactive response technology and clinical supply chain solutions) and Fortrea Patient Access (patient access services) businesses to Arsenal Capital Partners, enabling a sharpened focus as a pure-play clinical CRO. Most recently, in 2025, Fortrea announced a strategic collaboration with SCTbio to integrate clinical development with cGMP manufacturing for cell therapy innovators, alongside recognition as a leader in pharmacovigilance operations per the PEAK Matrix Assessment 2025.
