Business
Agtira AB is a Sweden-based food-technology company specializing in urban agriculture, controlled-environment agriculture, and closed-loop cultivation systems. Founded in 1996 as Peckas Naturodlingar AB and headquartered in Härnösand, Sweden, the company develops, builds, and operates automated farming installations utilizing aquaponic and hydroponic technologies to deliver locally grown, sustainable food. Agtira AB operates primarily through its Farming-as-a-Service business model, establishing long-term service and off-take agreements with supermarket chains and food distributors. The company's core product and service portfolio comprises: Agtira InStore, a modular vertical farming unit installed directly within grocery retail stores for on-site vegetable production; Agtira Complete, a large-scale integrated system combining vegetable greenhouse farming with commercial fish farming in a circular bio-ecosystem; Agtira Greens, an industrial-scale greenhouse production facility dedicated to high-volume vegetable cultivation; proprietary software platforms and artificial intelligence solutions for automated environmental monitoring, light regulation, climate optimization, and nutrient management; fresh agricultural produce including greenhouse cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, culinary herbs, leafy greens, and strawberries; and recirculating aquaculture products including sustainably farmed rainbow trout and salmon. Agtira AB serves supermarket operators, grocery retail conglomerates, and institutional food distributors across Sweden, operating cultivation facilities located in Härnösand, Påarp, Haninge, Östersund, and Kramfors. In recent major corporate developments, Agtira completed the strategic acquisition of cucumber producer Pepino AB and real estate company Gurkfast i Sverige AB, adding 32,000 square meters of greenhouse production in Påarp and establishing Agtira as Sweden's largest commercial producer of cucumbers. The company has also expanded its commercial partnerships through a 10-year supply agreement with Lidl Sweden to provide cucumbers to over 200 retail stores, advanced its framework collaboration with the Greenfood Group for nationwide distribution of urban-farmed produce, and completed multiple equity rights issues between 2023 and 2025 to finance facility expansion, greenhouse modernization, and working capital.
