Business
Fanuc Corporation, founded in 1956 and headquartered in Oshino, Yamanashi, Japan, is a global leader in factory automation and robotics. The company designs and manufactures a broad range of automation products including industrial robots, computer numerical control (CNC) systems, servomotors, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and factory automation equipment. Its product portfolio includes the ROBOT line of robotic arms for industrial applications; ROBOMACHINE products, which feature the ROBODRILL high-speed machining centers, ROBOSHOT electric injection molding machines, and ROBOCUT wire electrical discharge machines; and the FA (Factory Automation) group that delivers servomotors and control technologies for CNC machines. Fanuc operates worldwide, serving manufacturing sectors such as automotive, electronics, aerospace, medical devices, and general industrial production. In the last two years, Fanuc has made significant advances including the launch of the ROBOSHOT SC series injection molding machines featuring AI functionalities and energy-saving technologies designed for flexible, cost-efficient production. The company also introduced updated robots with enhanced payload capabilities exemplified by the M-950 and M-710 models. A major strategic development is Fanuc's partnership with Nvidia announced in late 2025, focusing on integrating Nvidia’s AI technologies into Fanuc's robotics to enable voice command recognition, safer human-robot collaboration, and virtual factory simulations through open-source robotic simulation frameworks. Additionally, Fanuc America has formed a strategic alliance with Kitov AI to enhance manufacturing automation with AI-enhanced visual inspection and robotics. These initiatives underscore Fanuc's commitment to innovation, digital transformation of manufacturing, and sustainability, as evidenced by its top-tier ESG ratings and new IoT-enabled quality management tools. Fanuc’s integrated business model, uniting Factory Automation, Robotics, Robomachine, and extensive service offerings globally, positions it as a key player in advancing smart manufacturing technologies and industrial AI solutions, supported by over one million robots installed worldwide and a strong presence in over 100 countries including Japan, North America, Europe, and Asia. Its technological leadership and recent AI collaborations reflect a strategic emphasis on combining traditional automation expertise with next-generation artificial intelligence capabilities.
