Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW), founded in 1851 and headquartered in Corning, New York, develops and manufactures specialty materials including glass, ceramics, and optical technologies for industrial, scientific, mobile consumer electronics, display, automotive, life sciences, and communications applications. The company operates five main business segments offering optical connectivity solutions comprising optical fibers, cables, cable assemblies, hardware, connectors, and accessories; display technologies including precision glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays and organic light-emitting diodes used in televisions, laptops, monitors, tablets, and handheld devices; automotive and environmental technologies featuring ceramic substrates and filters for emissions control in gasoline, diesel, and mobile applications; specialty materials such as glass wafers, cover glass under the Gorilla Glass brand, radiation shielding products, and semiconductor optics; and life sciences products including lab consumables, cell culture media, plastic vessels, and glassware under brands like Corning, Pyrex, Falcon, and Axygen. Corning maintains manufacturing and research facilities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Germany, India, and other international locations, serving telecommunications providers, governments, businesses, consumers, and industrial customers worldwide. In recent developments, Corning entered a strategic partnership with QuantumScape Corporation in September 2025 to jointly develop high-volume ceramic separator manufacturing for solid-state batteries; upgraded its Springboard growth plan in March 2025 to target over $4 billion in additional annualized sales and 20% operating margins by end-2026 alongside launching a Solar Market-Access Platform projected to reach $2.5 billion in revenue by 2028; announced plans for a $500 million investment in China during 2025 to expand technology capabilities; and appointed Ami Badani to its board of directors in October 2025.
