Business
W.W. Grainger, Inc. (NYSE: GWW) distributes maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) products and services to businesses and institutions worldwide. The company operates through two segments: High-Touch Solutions North America, which offers approximately 2 million MRO products including safety and security equipment, material handling and storage equipment, pumps and plumbing supplies, cleaning and maintenance products, metalworking and hand tools; and Endless Assortment, which provides access to more than 14 million products through Zoro.com in the United States and more than 24 million products through MonotaRO.com in Japan, along with technical support and inventory management services. Grainger serves more than 4.5 million customers, including commercial, healthcare, manufacturing industries, government entities, and contractors, primarily in North America, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Founded in 1927 in Chicago by William W. Grainger and headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois, the company generates annual revenue of $17.2 billion as of 2024 through innovative technology, e-commerce platforms, catalogs, and sales representatives. In recent strategic shifts, Grainger entered a definitive agreement in October 2025 to divest its U.K.-based Cromwell business to AURELIUS Group, expecting to record a one-time after-tax loss of $190 million to $205 million primarily in Q3 2025, while proposing the closure of Zoro U.K. subject to regulatory and consultation processes, to focus operations on North America and Japan.
