Business
Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. is a holding company that, through its wholly owned subsidiary Hawaiian Airlines, Inc., provides scheduled passenger and cargo air transportation services; its core offerings include approximately 151 daily flights among the Hawaiian Islands using Boeing 717-200 aircraft, nonstop service from more than 15 U.S. mainland gateway cities to Hawaii via Airbus A321neo aircraft, and international routes to the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia primarily with Airbus A330-200 aircraft; the fleet totals around 75 aircraft serving passengers and cargo customers across North America, Asia, and Oceania. Founded in 1929 and headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii, the company operates as Hawaii's largest and longest-serving airline, emphasizing premium service, complimentary meals on transpacific flights, in-flight connectivity, and loyalty programs. In September 2024, Alaska Air Group, Inc. completed its $1.9 billion acquisition of Hawaiian Holdings, maintaining Hawaiian Airlines as a separate brand with dedicated operations while integrating networks for enhanced connectivity, loyalty program merger planned for mid-2025, fleet optimizations including transfer of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Alaska by spring 2026, Airbus A330 upgrades with premium economy, and expanded cargo partnerships; these changes diversify revenue, target $235 million in synergies, and position the combined entity as a leader in the $8 billion Hawaii market.
