Business
HeidelbergCement AG (HDELY) is a multinational building materials company that produces and distributes cement, aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt. The company operates through four main business segments: North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa-Mediterranean; it offers a comprehensive portfolio of products including gray and white cement under brands such as HeidelbergCement, Cimenteries CBR, and Hanson; aggregates like crushed stone, sand, and gravel; ready-mixed concrete through its extensive network of plants; and asphalt for road construction and maintenance, along with related services such as precast concrete elements and concrete recycling. HeidelbergCement serves construction, infrastructure, and industrial customers worldwide, with operations spanning more than 50 countries across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa-Mediterranean regions. Founded in 1874 and headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, the company maintains leading market positions in key markets through its subsidiaries and joint ventures. In recent developments, HeidelbergCement completed the acquisition of most of Italcementi's operations in 2016 but has since focused on portfolio optimization, including the 2023 divestiture of its North American materials businesses to focus on core markets; it also announced strategic sustainability initiatives in 2024-2025, targeting net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 through investments in alternative fuels and carbon capture technologies, alongside partnerships for green cement production.
