Business
HNI Corporation, along with its associated entities, is a prominent manufacturer and marketer of workplace furniture and residential heating solutions, primarily serving markets in the United States and Canada. The company organizes its operations into two distinct divisions: Workplace Furnishings and Residential Building Products. The Workplace Furnishings segment delivers a comprehensive portfolio of commercial and home office items, including systems furniture, ergonomic seating, various storage options, tables, architectural elements, and ancillary products, marketed under respected brands such as HON, Allsteel, Gunlocke, HBF, and through recent additions like Kimball and National. This division distributes its offerings through independent dealerships, wholesale partners, office product suppliers, digital commerce platforms, and directly to corporate, governmental, and educational clients. The Residential Building Products division specializes in hearth products, featuring a full range of gas, wood, electric, and pellet-fueled fireplaces, inserts, stoves, decorative facings, and outdoor fire features for residential applications. These products are offered under well-known names like Heatilator, Heat & Glo, Majestic, Monessen, Quadra-Fire, and Harman. This segment reaches its customers via independent dealers, distributors, and company-owned retail and distribution centers. HNI Corporation, established in 1944, maintains its corporate headquarters in Muscatine, Iowa. The company has recently expanded its reach through strategic moves, including the acquisition of Kimball International in 2023 and the planned acquisition of Steelcase in 2025, aimed at bolstering its position in the workplace furnishings sector.
