Business
PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation (HOSE: PVT), a subsidiary of the state-owned Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), is a Vietnam-based maritime logistics and energy transportation provider primarily engaged in marine oil and gas shipping, offshore technical support, and vessel chartering services. Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the company serves national energy infrastructure, domestic refineries, and multinational energy trading firms across domestic and international shipping routes. The company operates through three principal business segments: Marine Transportation, Floating Storage and Offshore Services, and Maritime Logistics and Technical Services. Its core offerings include crude oil marine transportation utilizing Aframax tankers for domestic refineries including Dung Quat and Nghi Son; refined petroleum product shipping covering gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel; liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) sea transportation; dry bulk cargo shipping including coal, industrial minerals, and agricultural commodities via Supramax and Ultramax vessels; chemical and specialized liquid cargo shipping; operation, management, and leasing of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) and Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) units for offshore oil and gas exploitation; offshore support vessel (OSV) services including anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) and crew transfer operations; commercial ship management, technical maintenance, and crewing services; and maritime agency, bunkering, and logistics forwarding services. The company conducts operations domestically and internationally through major subsidiaries and affiliates, including Pacific Petroleum Transportation Joint Stock Company, Gas Shipping Joint Stock Company, Phuong Dong Petroleum Transportation Joint Stock Company, and PVTrans Vung Tau Joint Stock Company. In recent developments, PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation has accelerated a multi-year fleet modernization and expansion initiative, acquiring modern Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC), medium-range (MR) product tankers, chemical carriers, and bulk vessels to capitalize on global freight demand. The company has broadened its global market footprint, deploying over eighty percent of its fleet capacity on international routes across the Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas through long-term time-charter and spot contracts with international energy majors and commodity trading houses. Furthermore, the company has executed capital increases across key transportation subsidiaries to finance next-generation tonnage, implemented vessel efficiency upgrades to meet International Maritime Organization carbon-intensity and environmental compliance standards, and expanded its gas shipping infrastructure to support emerging liquefied natural gas import projects in Southeast Asia.
