(IEP) operates as a diversified master limited partnership and conglomerate holding company primarily engaged in investment management and ownership of operating subsidiaries across multiple industries; its core segments include Investment, which manages various private investment funds focusing on undervalued public companies; Automotive, through subsidiaries Icahn Automotive Group LLC and AEP PLC LLC, providing automotive repair and maintenance services, aftermarket parts distribution, and retail merchandise; Energy, holding a significant stake in CVR Energy Inc., which operates petroleum refining and nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing; Railcar, via American Railcar Industries producing railcars; Food Packaging, with Viskase Cos. Inc. manufacturing cellulosic, fibrous, and plastic casings for processed meat and poultry; Metals, through PSC Metals Inc. collecting, processing, and selling ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as steel products; Real Estate, including Bayswater Development for property development and leasing; Home Fashion, via WestPoint Home producing bed and bath products; and Pharma, with interests in Vivus Pharmaceuticals. The company, founded in 1987 and headquartered at 16690 Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, conducts the majority of its operations in the United States, with additional activities in regions such as Brazil for mining rights through Ferrous Resources and international sales in food packaging and home fashion. Recent developments include Carl Icahn's acquisition of an additional 20.4 million IEP depositary units in June 2024, increasing his control to approximately 86%; a proposed tender offer in November 2024 to acquire more shares of CVR Energy; closure of 44 underperforming Auto Service locations in 2025 alongside plans for 16 new greenfield sites; $90 million in term loan repayments at CVR Energy; and an at-the-market equity offering program filed in August 2025 for up to $412.6 million through Jefferies to bolster liquidity for strategic opportunities, acquisitions, and operational enhancements.
