Business
Iluka Resources Limited engages in the exploration, development, mining, processing and marketing of mineral sands and critical minerals, producing zircon; high-grade titanium dioxide feedstocks including rutile, synthetic rutile and ilmenite; and rare earth oxides via its Eneabba refinery in Western Australia. The company operates mining projects such as Jacinth-Ambrosia and Cataby in Australia and Sierra Rutile in Sierra Leone; maintains processing facilities at Eneabba, Narngulu and Capel; and conducts international exploration alongside rehabilitation activities in the United States and Australia. Iluka serves markets in technology, construction, medical, lifestyle, defence and industrial sectors through a globally integrated marketing network. Founded in 1998 through the merger of Westralian Sands Ltd and RGC Ltd's titanium minerals business and headquartered at 240 St Georges Terrace in Perth, Western Australia, Iluka holds a 20% stake in Deterra Royalties Ltd following a 2020 demerger of its royalty assets, including exposure to BHP's Mining Area C iron ore operations. Recent developments include a US$20 million funding commitment and 15-year offtake agreement with Lindian Resources for rare earth concentrate from its Kangankunde project in Malawi to supply the Eneabba refinery, announced in 2025; securing an additional A$475 million government loan in December 2024 toward the total A$1.7 billion for the Eneabba rare earths refinery, Australia's first fully integrated facility; board changes with the retirement of Chairman Robert Cole and appointment of James Mactier as Chair in 2025, alongside the addition of Peter Smith; and updated mineral resource estimates for projects including Goschen South and Tutunup.
