Its Environment segment provides comprehensive services for the collection, treatment, and recovery of animal by-products and food substances for use in fertilizers and animal feed, in addition to managing oil products for the biodiesel industry and recycling used cooking oils. Semapa maintains a global presence, conducting business in Portugal, various other European countries, the United States, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Founded in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1991, the group continually pursues opportunities for long-term value creation and sustainable growth, as evidenced by recent strategic investments in areas like renewable energy and acquisitions, such as Imedexa in Spain for metal structures and Barna for fish by-product recovery.
