Business
Imugene Limited (ASX: IMU; OTC: IUGNF) is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company that develops innovative immunotherapies to activate the immune system of cancer patients against tumors. The company offers a diversified pipeline of product candidates, including the allogeneic CAR T-cell therapy azer-cel (azercabtagene zapreleucel), which targets CD19 for blood cancers such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma; the oncolytic virotherapy platform CF33 (VAXINIA), including CF33-hNIS for imaging and CF33-CD19 (onCARlytics) to enhance CAR T responses in solid tumors; and B-cell immunotherapy vaccines such as HER-Vaxx, a HER2-positive vaccine for gastric and breast cancers, and PD1-Vaxx targeting the PD-1 checkpoint. These therapies aim to harness natural immune responses comparable to or exceeding monoclonal antibodies, often in combination with standard-of-care treatments, and target both hematological malignancies and solid tumors across patient populations with unmet needs. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Sydney, Australia, Imugene conducts operations primarily in Australia and the United States through research facilities, clinical trial sites, and strategic partnerships. In April 2024, Imugene entered a strategic manufacturing and process development partnership with Kincell Bio, involving the sale of its North Carolina CGMP-compliant cell therapy facility for up to $6 million USD and the transfer of azer-cel activities, resulting in 50% staff reductions, $32 million USD in three-year cost savings, and an extended cash runway into 2026; the company also secured $37.5 million in funding for azer-cel advancement and received a $5.87 million R&D tax refund for fiscal 2024.
