Thanks, everyone. We'll run through the overall results, our divisional performance, all of our focus areas, some return and trading stats, and finally conclude.
If we look at the group structure, an unchanged group structure, our largest division being Wealth, contributed 57% of earnings, Asset Management about 28% of earnings, and the balance from Insure. What happened in Insure?
We sold Western Namibia a year ago, Western Namibia is no longer included in the group results. What differentiates PSG from a lot of the other players is really our adviser and footprint.
We've got 265 adviser offices and 976 advisers throughout the country. If we look at our business characteristics: number one, we're equity market dependent, the current equity market conditions have been favorable, and you would have seen how those translated through the results.
Particularly our platform businesses are admin, people, and system dependent, not really balance sheet intensive, really mainly linked to our insurance license, very free-cash-flow generative. Then we're vulnerable to regulatory change, where we have 18 local regulatory licenses and four offshore licenses.
Before running through the results, just to give you an overview on the macroeconomic indicators. During this period, the rand strengthened by 17% against the dollar.
What's interesting to see if you look at the rand-dollar from FY 2022 was 15.45, ended FY 2026 15.92. The JSE was up 49% during this period, whilst the S&P 500 was down 1% in rand terms.
Even if you look at over a five-year period, the JSE started at 76,091 and closed at 128, against S&P 500 at 67 to 109. One can see over a five-year period, JSE's actually delivered fairly good returns.
If we then move across to our overall results, our headline earnings for this period was up 32%, and per share up 34%, assets under management up 20%. What we also like investors to focus on is really our five-year numbers.
If you look at headline earnings over the five-year period is up 16%, and the growth in our assets under management over that five-year period also up 16%. Can see, yeah, growth in assets under management a key driver of the business profitability.
If we then move across to each of the divisions: so overall results, 1,682, Wealth up 25%, Asset Management up 59%, and Insure up 22%. What we pleased about is really particularly a five-year compound growth rate that each of the divisions have delivered.
Very good results from all the divisions during the current year. If we then look at our 10-year track record: so first of all, assets under management, a 14% compound growth over the past 10 years, most recent period up 20%, recurring headline earnings per share, 15% over the past 10 years, and 34% during this period, return on equity, 31.7% that we've delivered, yeah, an SCR ratio of 2.6, and we've grown both our advisers and employees over that period as well.
If we just run across to then our divisional performance: so key number to focus on is the managed assets. We started the year at 409.9 billion.
Market movement gave us 46 billion, and net flows just under 25 billion, ended up the year at 480 billion. I think, yeah, it's a combination of the market movement, we've got mostly local assets, offshore assets, and some fixed income assets.
Stockbroking custody assets up 38%, large portion of that's local and because of the JSE performance. If we then look at the net flows that we've delivered, I think what's pleasing there to see the positive net flows that we've delivered over a five-year period in these graphs showed on a six-monthly basis.
The 20 just under 25 billion that we brought in represents roughly a 30% share of the total Wealth inflows. If we look at our adviser numbers: so really over the past five years, we've brought in 78 net new advisers into the Wealth business, ending up with 641 advisers.
If we move across to Asset Management: so they started the year at 60.7 billion, market movement of 18 billion, and positive net flows of 4.9, ending the year at just under 84 billion, a 38% growth. You can see below that, the multi-manager, and the reason that we showed this way is Asset Management constitutes two components: really the single asset manager plus our manco, we earn fees from the manco in Asset Management as well.
Asset Management net flows also shown on a six-monthly basis. One can see particularly in the last six months, yeah, very good, pleasing net flows of just under 4 billion.
If we then move across to performance stats: so, yeah, Asset Management performance stats, you can see, yeah, top-quartile performance over 1, 5, and 10 years, and we've been in first or second-quartile performance over the three years, and over all of the periods shown on the slide. If we move across to Insure: gross written premium there, up 5%.
Western, if we adjust for the Western Namibia sale, our gross written premium would be up 7%, but, yeah, pleasing growth that we've received on all of those businesses. This is a more challenging area where it's largely linked to GDP growth and other factors as well.
If we look at on the Insure advisers, yeah, continue to consolidate as we've, yeah, really focused more on the commercial lines side of the business. Previously we had acquired from Absa their advisory business, where there was a much higher personal lines component, and really what we've done is mainly transition more onto the commercial lines side.
If we then look at Western National, their underwriting results: so 15% underwriting margin in the second six months, and 15.2 in the first six months. What the cyan graph indicates is the investment income that that business earned as well during that period.
If we then look at, yeah, top-line revenue growth: so what we really focus on is top-line revenue growth, overall at 20%. By being able to grow your top-line revenue allows us to continue to invest in the business, which we've done.
Some of our key metrics that we look at: first of all, performance fees during this period constituted 9.2% of headline earnings. We only earn performance fees in the Asset Management business, and that's varied between 2.8 and 10.6% during the period.
Recurring headline earnings per share, you can see the incremental growth in that, operating margin 19%, and operating margin excluding performance fees of 17.5, cost-to-income ratio 55.4, return of equity of 31.7, and return on equity excluding performance fees of 28.8, and that was delivered on unleveraged basis. If we then have a look at our return and trading stats: this indicates the returns that an investor would have received who started with 100,000 rand investment in PSG, and each time we paid out a dividend reinvested it.
100,000 would have grown to 15.3 million in US dollar terms. That is a compound growth rate of 21.5%, and even if you look at over the past 10 years, delivered roughly an 18% US dollar compound growth rate, and we've compared that to the JSE over that equivalent period.
What this slide shows, really our growth in headline earnings per share: so our long-term growth in headline earnings per share up 20.1%, close correlation to the overall growth in share price. Really what we focus on, yeah, is delivering a consistent growth in headline earnings per share, which is translated into the growth in the share.
Return on equity, net of inflation, of 28.7%, which is a record that we've delivered during this period. Then, yeah, just some share trading stats: so really post the unbundling by PSG, which occurred during FY 2023, one's seen an increase in the percentage of shares that have changed hand, and our current market cap is just over 35 billion.
Then just some concluding remarks: yeah, we've got a formidable adviser network in South Africa, very broad geographic footprint, and we continue to expand that. We can touch on a little bit more detail, yeah, really our ideal office that we set up and how we've continued to grow that.
Strong governance structures in place, relatively small market shares, believe that we've got clear growth opportunities for the business, and we've got a history of delivering superior shareholder returns. What we focus on is really optimizing risk-adjusted returns per share, as I illustrated before.
We've been restrictive, and actually have had no dilution in our shares during the period. Thank you, everyone.
Perfect. Thank you so much.
