Business
KBR, Inc. provides science, technology, engineering, and mission-critical services to governments and companies worldwide, operating through two primary businesses: Mission Technology Solutions and Sustainable Technology Solutions. Mission Technology Solutions offers government solutions including infrastructure support, logistics, base operations, cybersecurity, space domain awareness, and national security services; Sustainable Technology Solutions delivers proprietary technologies for greener ammonia production, sustainable aviation fuel, plastics recycling, carbon capture, utilization and storage, alternative fuels, engineering, procurement, construction, and program management across energy, chemicals, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical sectors. The company, founded in 1901 as M.W. Kellogg and headquartered in Houston, Texas, serves defense, aerospace, industrial, and energy markets globally with approximately 38,000 employees and operations spanning the United States, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Angola, Korea, and other regions. In recent developments, KBR announced in September 2025 its strategic intent to pursue a tax-free spin-off of its Mission Technology Solutions segment by mid-to-late 2026, creating two independent public companies to enhance focus, agility, and growth; this follows a December 2024 segment realignment and executive appointments to streamline operations and reduce costs. The company secured key contracts such as a $476 million base operations support deal in Djibouti, LOGCAP V extension through 2030 for EUCOM and NORTHCOM, Air Force Research Laboratory awards, BP energy security projects in Azerbaijan, a PMC contract for a fertilizer project in Angola, a second ammonia cracking technology contract with Hanwha Impact in Korea, and a partnership with TerraPower for Natrium small nuclear reactors. KBR also updated its FY 2027 targets post-HomeSafe integration, projecting revenues over $9 billion, adjusted EBITDA exceeding $1.15 billion, and robust cash flow, while executing over $150 million in share repurchases in Q1 fiscal 2025 amid strong Q2 and Q3 revenue growth.
