Business
Kenon Holdings Ltd. operates as a Singapore-based investment holding company, primarily engaged in the ownership, development, and operation of power generation facilities in Israel and the United States. Its core products and services include electricity generation and supply through its subsidiary OPC Energy Ltd., which operates a diversified portfolio of power plants including natural gas-fired and renewable energy facilities; development, construction, and operation of power plants utilizing natural gas and renewable sources such as solar and wind energy; and management of energy generation assets. Kenon also holds a significant minority stake in Zim Integrated Shipping Services, an international container shipping company. The company targets private, commercial, and industrial electricity consumers in the Israeli and U.S. power markets. Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from Israel Corporation, Kenon Holdings is headquartered in Singapore and operates globally with significant holdings in Israel and the United States. The OPC segment includes the OPC Rotem combined cycle power plant and OPC Hadera cogeneration plant in Israel, and the CPV Group in the U.S., which focuses on renewable energy and conventional gas power plants. Kenon holds approximately a 47% stake in OPC Energy as of late 2025. Recent major developments include a November 2025 sale of a small portion of OPC shares by Kenon for gross proceeds of about $100 million; OPC acquiring the remaining approximately 11% interest in CPV Shore to consolidate its ownership; issuance of Series D bonds amounting to approximately $140 million by OPC; and the acquisition of the remaining 30% ownership interest in the Basin Ranch Project in the U.S. from GE Vernova for about $371 million, which upon completion will result in full consolidation of the project in OPC’s financials. In December 2025, Kenon appointed Audrey Low as a non-executive director to its board. These actions reflect strategic portfolio optimization and capital management to support growth and operational efficiency. Kenon Holdings operates primarily in the diversified holding company and utilities sectors, supporting growth in renewable energy and conventional power generation. It provides its investors with exposure to stable cash-generating assets as well as early-stage energy infrastructure projects. The company is a subsidiary of Ansonia Holdings Singapore B.V. and trades on the New York and Tel Aviv Stock Exchanges under the ticker KEN. Its workforce includes close to 300 employees involved in operational and management roles across its subsidiaries and investments. This comprehensive portfolio and recent capital transactions underscore Kenon Holdings' strategic focus on expanding its renewable energy footprint while optimizing its traditional power generation assets in key markets such as Israel and the United States. The company continues to influence dynamic energy markets through its investments and operational management expertise.
