Business
Khiron Life Sciences Corp. is a vertically integrated medical and consumer packaged goods cannabis company with core operations in Latin America, primarily Colombia, and expanding operations in Europe and North America. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, the company focuses on the cultivation, production, domestic distribution, and international export of both high- and low-THC medical cannabis products. Its primary business segments include Medical Cannabis Products, Health Services, and Wellbeing Products. The Medical Cannabis Products segment involves branded cannabis products targeting patients with conditions such as chronic pain, epilepsy, depression, and anxiety. The Health Services segment operates a network of medium complexity health centers and clinics under the Zerenia and ILANS brands, providing integrated medical care, patient education, and telemedicine services. The Wellbeing Products segment develops CBD-based cosmeceutical products under the Kuida brand and offers a range of consumer packaged goods including cosmetics, food, beverages, supplements, and pet care products. Recent major developments include Khiron’s strategic acquisition of Pharmadrug Production GmbH in 2022, which established a European manufacturing and distribution hub that provides direct access to German pharmacies and strengthens its European market presence with higher gross margins. In 2023, Khiron completed the sale of its European subsidiaries including Khiron Europe GmbH and Zerenia UK to align its operational focus. The company commenced a significant contract with Colombia’s largest public insurance provider, Capital Salud EPS, enabling insured patients full reimbursement for medical cannabis treatments at Zerenia clinics. Additionally, the Colombian government mandated insurance coverage for medical cannabis products beginning January 2023, thereby facilitating expanded patient access and revenue predictability. Khiron has launched new cannabis flower products in Switzerland under the KHIRON brand and expanded its product portfolio in Germany and the UK with multiple new SKUs. Training programs for healthcare professionals and real-world clinical evidence presentations support its leadership in medical cannabis education and responsible prescription practices. These strategic moves reinforce Khiron’s positioning as a leading medical cannabis provider with a patient-oriented approach across Latin America and Europe.
