Business
Knowles Corporation (NYSE: KN), headquartered in Itasca, Illinois and founded in 1946, provides advanced micro-acoustic, audio processing, and precision device solutions to the medtech, defense, electrification, industrial, communications, and consumer electronics markets worldwide. The company offers high-performance MEMS microphones including SiSonic technology, balanced armature speakers and receivers primarily for hearing health applications, audio processors and amplifiers; and precision devices such as multilayer, single layer, high reliability and precision variable capacitors, aluminum electrolytic, mica and film capacitors, EMI filters, RF/microwave components including filters, splitters and couplers, and high Q ceramic core inductors. It operates through segments including Precision Devices and Hearing & Audio, serving original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, sales representatives, and distributors across North America, Europe, Asia, and other regions with manufacturing facilities in the United States, China, and Malaysia. In recent developments, Knowles completed the divestiture of its Consumer MEMS Microphones business to Syntiant Corp in early 2025, enabling a strategic shift toward higher-margin industrial technology sectors; acquired Cornell Dubilier in a $265 million all-cash transaction to expand its capacitor portfolio for defense, medical imaging, and electrification applications; secured a $75 million order in the alternative energy sector prompting facility expansion in South Carolina; and reported 7% revenue growth to $153 million in Q3 2025 driven by Precision Devices strength and design wins in defense, medtech, and electric vehicle markets. Knowles targets 8-10% annual revenue growth with 4-6% organic, alongside EBITDA margin expansion from 24% to 30% over three to five years through bolt-on acquisitions and operational efficiencies.
