Business
Lockheed Martin Corporation is a global aerospace and defense technology company that researches, designs, develops, manufactures, integrates and sustains advanced military aircraft, missile and fire control systems, rotary-wing aircraft, radar, sensors, command-and-control systems, satellites, space systems and related mission support services for government and allied customers worldwide. Founded in 1995 through the merger of Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta, the company is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, and operates through four business segments: Aeronautics, Missiles and Fire Control, Rotary and Mission Systems, and Space, with a global footprint spanning the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and other international markets. Its product portfolio includes the F-35 Lightning II, F-16 and C-130 aircraft; missile defense and precision strike systems, including PAC-3 and Javelin-related programs; helicopters and maritime systems; air and missile defense, electronic warfare and surveillance solutions; national security space and launch systems; and sustainment, logistics, training and systems integration services. In 2026, Lockheed Martin announced a landmark framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War to accelerate PAC-3 MSE production capacity from about 600 to 2,000 interceptors annually over seven years; it also announced the planned acquisition of Ultra Maritime to deepen its anti-submarine warfare capabilities, while continuing partnership activity such as a missile co-production agreement in India with Tata Advanced Systems and production collaborations supporting hypersonic programs. The company serves primarily the U.S. government, allied defense ministries and other security customers, and it maintains a large industrial and supplier base of more than 340 facilities and thousands of suppliers worldwide.
