The group targets consumers in vehicles, homes, and mobile devices across North America, with primary operations in the United States. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, it traces its origins to Liberty Media's 1991 founding and its significant SiriusXM investment starting in 2009. In September 2024, Liberty Media completed a major restructuring by splitting off the Liberty SiriusXM Group into a new entity, New Sirius, which merged with Sirius XM Holdings Inc. to form an independent Sirius XM Holdings Inc. publicly traded under NASDAQ:SIRI, simplifying ownership by eliminating the tracking stock structure and enhancing liquidity, with former Liberty SiriusXM holders owning approximately 81% of the combined company. Post-split-off, The Liberty SiriusXM Group (LSXMK) trading ceased on September 9, 2024, rendering it defunct as Liberty Media refocused its remaining tracking stocks on the Formula One Group and Liberty Live Group. This transaction followed shareholder approval in August 2024 and built on Liberty Media's long-term 83% stake in SiriusXM operations.
