Business
PJSC Lukoil is a leading Russian multinational vertically integrated oil and gas company headquartered in Moscow, founded in 1991. The company operates across over 30 countries, specializing in exploration, production, refining, transportation, and marketing of oil and natural gas. Its core products and services include crude oil and natural gas extraction primarily in Russia and internationally; refining of crude oil through major refineries in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Netherlands; manufacturing and sales of petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel, jet and marine fuels; petrochemical production including alkenes and acrylonitrile; lubricants production handled by its subsidiary Lukoil Lubricants operating plants in Russia and abroad; and electricity and heat generation. The company also operates an extensive retail network with nearly 5,000 filling stations worldwide and offers fuel cards to corporate clients. Recently, in response to sanctions imposed by the US and UK, PJSC Lukoil announced a strategic divestment of its foreign assets, including holdings in Europe, Central Asia, and other international regions, initiating a process to sell these assets under a sanctioned wind-down license. This move represents a significant shift towards reallocating capital and operational focus back to Russian domestic markets, enhancing investments in upstream oil and gas reserves, refining modernization, infrastructure, and technology development. In 2025, Lukoil projects growth through development projects such as an 80% stake in Iraq's Block 10, targeting increased production. Additionally, the company is advancing its refining efficiency and environmental performance, aiming for deeper refining levels and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Lukoil's downstream operations also include petrochemical exports to more than 30 countries and bunkering services for marine fuel worldwide. Overall, PJSC Lukoil's business segments cover exploration and production, refining, marketing, petrochemicals, and power generation, with a geographical footprint spanning Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and limited international markets amid ongoing strategic divestitures. The company's recent strategic adjustments under geopolitical pressures aim to strengthen its domestic market position while maintaining core production and refining capacities.
