Business
Seres Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRB) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing microbiome therapeutics to treat medically important diseases through the restoration, stabilization, and enhancement of the human microbiome. The company develops and commercializes investigational oral live biotherapeutic products, including VOWST (fecal microbiota spores, live-brpk), an FDA-approved therapy for the prevention of Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infection recurrence in adults following antibiotic treatment; SER-109, an oral capsule formulation of Firmicutes spores for the same indication; SER-155, an oral live biotherapeutic targeting enteric pathogens for patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; and SER-155CT, a variant designed to reduce infection risk and graft-versus-host disease in similar patients, along with earlier-stage candidates like SER-344 for inflammatory bowel disease and SER-382 for food allergy. Seres operates primarily in the United States, with research and development activities centered on its Cambridge, Massachusetts headquarters, where the company was founded in 2010. In recent developments within the last two years, Seres completed the commercial launch of VOWST in 2023 following FDA approval, entered into a strategic collaboration with Nestlé Health Science to co-promote VOWST and expand commercialization efforts, reported positive Phase 3 data for SER-109 leading to supplemental Biologics License Application submission, and advanced SER-155 into clinical studies amid ongoing funding through equity offerings and partnerships to support its pipeline expansion in infectious diseases and immunotherapy.
