Business
MediWound Ltd. (Nasdaq: MDWD) develops, manufactures and commercializes next-generation enzymatic therapeutics for non-surgical tissue repair, focusing on wound and burn care; its lead product, NexoBrid, an FDA-, EMA- and PMDA-approved orphan biologic, removes eschar from deep partial- and full-thickness thermal burns in adults and pediatric patients; its Phase III pipeline candidate, EscharEx, a biological drug, targets debridement of chronic and hard-to-heal wounds such as venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers. The company operates a fully vertically integrated model with in-house cGMP-certified sterile manufacturing, advanced R&D including in vitro/in vivo models and analytical methods, and global commercialization through strategic partnerships including Vericel Corp. in the U.S., direct sales and PMI promotion in Europe (DACH region), and collaborations in Japan, Australia, India and 45 countries worldwide. Founded in 2000 and headquartered at 42 Hayarkon Street, Yavne, Israel, MediWound serves burn centers, hospitals and wound care settings, treating over 16,000 patients to date with improved outcomes and reduced surgical needs. Recent developments include completion of commissioning for a sixfold expanded NexoBrid manufacturing facility reaching full capacity by year-end 2025; ongoing enrollment in the VALUE Phase III trial for EscharEx in venous leg ulcers with diabetic foot ulcer trial planned for H2 2026; Therapeutic Goods Administration approval of NexoBrid in Australia; $30 million equity financing from healthcare investors; and a strategic $15 million PIPE investment from Mölnlycke Health Care in 2024 with collaboration on R&D and partnerships.
