Business
Wayland Group Corp. Wayland Group Corp. (MRRCF) produces and sells medical and non-medical cannabis products for patients and consumers in Canada and internationally; it offers a range of CBD, balanced, and THC strains under brands including Kiwi, Northern Harvest, High Tide, Lost at Sea, Solara C, Rare Dankness, and Maricann, alongside oils, flower, pre-rolls, vaporizer cartridges, tinctures, and vape pens. The company operates vertically integrated cultivation, extraction, formulation, and distribution facilities under federal licenses from the Government of Canada, complemented by a pharmaceutical-grade processing site in Germany for GMP-compliant medical cannabis distributed across the European Union. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, Wayland Group Corp. serves medical pharmacies, healthcare providers, licensed wholesalers, and retail storefronts in Canada and Europe, with approximately 68 employees focused on proprietary cultivation, extraction technologies, and research and development. Wayland Group Corp. underwent a significant restructuring through Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) proceedings, culminating in the sale of its operating business to Ring International in April 2020, while ongoing court matters address disputes with former investment banks as recently as December 2024. The company previously pursued international expansion through acquisitions such as 51% of UK-based Theros Pharma in 2018 for medical cannabis importation and processing, a joint venture in Italy for extraction laboratories, and land purchase in Argentina for cultivation projects. It also completed deals including the acquisition of MariCann in April 2020 and earlier name change from Maricann Group Inc., alongside strategic moves like a potential asset sale to a cryptocurrency firm amid operational challenges.
