Business
Marfrig Global Foods S.A. Marfrig Global Foods S.A. engages in the production, processing, industrialization, sale, and distribution of animal-based protein products worldwide, positioning itself as a global leader in hamburger meat patties and the second-largest beef producer by capacity. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio including fresh and processed beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and fish; hamburgers; ready-to-eat items such as frozen vegetables, sauces, and desserts; as well as complementary products like pastas, margarine, pet food, plant-based proteins, and byproducts from leather processing and milk derivatives. It operates through key segments encompassing Beef North America via its National Beef subsidiary, which focuses on high-value beef exports to markets like Japan and South Korea, and Beef South America with facilities in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile; its products reach retail, wholesale, and food service channels in supermarket and restaurant chains across approximately 100 countries, supported by 33 production units, around 32,000 employees, and additional services in logistics, transportation, energy generation, veterinary care, and asset management. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, the company, formerly known as Marfrig Alimentos S.A., rebranded to Marfrig Global Foods S.A. in 2014 and maintains a global footprint in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. In recent developments, Marfrig completed a transformative merger with BRF S.A. in September 2025, forming MBRF Global Foods Company S.A. to enhance operational synergies, cost efficiencies projected at up to 805 million BRL annually, and market dominance in multi-protein offerings including poultry and pork; additionally, it sold select industrial assets valued at approximately 5.68 billion BRL to Minerva Foods in 2024, streamlining its South American operations while appointing new leadership such as Miguel Gularte as global CEO post-merger.
