Business
BlackRock MuniHoldings Quality Fund II, Inc. (MUE) is a closed-end fixed income mutual fund that seeks to provide shareholders with current income exempt from federal income taxes. The Fund invests primarily in long-term, investment grade municipal obligations exempt from federal income taxes (which may be subject to the federal alternative minimum tax); under normal market conditions, it allocates at least 80% of its assets to such municipal obligations with remaining maturities of one year or more; it may invest directly in these securities or synthetically through derivatives. Managed by BlackRock Advisors, LLC, the Fund focuses on U.S. fixed income markets, targeting investment grade municipal bonds issued by states, municipalities, and related entities. Formed on February 26, 1999, and domiciled in the United States, the Fund is headquartered at 50 Hudson Yards, New York, New York, with certain administrative operations at 100 Bellevue Parkway, Wilmington, Delaware. It was formerly known as BlackRock MuniHoldings Insured Fund II, Inc. The Fund trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker MUE and serves investors seeking tax-exempt income through a portfolio emphasizing high-quality, long-duration municipal securities. In June 2025, the Board of BlackRock MuniHoldings Quality Fund II approved a reorganization plan to merge with BlackRock Municipal Income Trust (BFK), BlackRock Municipal Income Quality Trust (BYM), and BlackRock Municipal Income Trust II (BLE) into BlackRock MuniHoldings Fund, Inc. (MHD), aiming to enhance scale and operational efficiency. Shareholders approved the reorganization at meetings held on October 15, 2025, and November 20, 2025, with completion expected in February 2026, subject to customary closing conditions; the transaction is anticipated to be a non-taxable event based on relative net asset values.
