Business
McEwen Mining Inc. (NYSE/TSX: MUX) is a diversified mining company engaged in the exploration, development, production and sale of gold, silver and copper deposits across the Americas. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Toronto, Canada, the company operates key producing assets including the Fox Complex in Ontario, Canada; Gold Bar mine in Nevada, United States; and San José mine in Santa Cruz, Argentina, where it holds a 49% interest through a joint venture with Hochschild Mining; alongside development projects such as El Gallo and Fenix in Sinaloa, Mexico, and the flagship Los Azules copper-gold project in San Juan, Argentina, managed through its subsidiary McEwen Copper Inc., which also oversees the Elder Creek exploration property in Nevada. Its core products encompass gold and silver doré from open-pit and underground operations at these sites; copper concentrates from the advancing Los Azules project targeting first production by 2030 with measured and indicated resources of 2 billion tonnes containing 15.7 billion pounds of copper; and associated by-products like silver from polymetallic deposits, serving markets in North and South America with a focus on precious metals producers and industrial consumers. Recent developments include the August 2024 acquisition of Timberline Resources Corporation to bolster its Nevada portfolio; the November 2025 purchase of a 31% equity interest in Paragon Geochemical Laboratories Inc., a PhotonAssay services provider; a strategic investment partnership with Stellantis for Los Azules advancing toward a feasibility study and over $1.1 billion in preliminary financing proposals; resource expansions at Stock West and identification of Stock East at the Fox Complex; and receipt of RIGI approval in Argentina enhancing Los Azules development amid $51 million cash reserves as of September 2025.
